Lots of royal trinkets on upcoming auction

Lots of royal trinkets are up for auction this winter, as the Danish Bruun Rasmussen auctionhouse in Copenhagen goes “Russian Imperial Style”. On sale is a historically very interesting piece of gold jewelry, a medallion containing hair from the Romanov Grandduke Nikolai Aleksandrovich, who died in Nice in 1865. The Grandduke had recently been betrothed to the Danish Princess Dagmar (later Empress Maria Feodorovna), and the medallion belonged to the Danish Queen Louise, Dagmar´s mother.

Also up for auction with imperial and/or royal provenance are a pair of Russian silver cups, once belonging to the Grandduchess Olga and a lovely watercolour painted by Olga as she lived in exile in Denmark, and a brooch – made into a pendant necklace – that once belonged to the empress Maria Feodorovna.

Featuring at the jewelry auction on december 1st are several russian imperial artworks (including an imperial representational brooch), and november 28th also has a stunning auction on Russian Imperial icons.
